We added some new things to the city in the last few days, including a V3LD1N statue, a radio station, and an arcade. Ratchet's House is now public, and the backwards spawnpoint for new players should be fixed.

Minecraft 1.5.2

The server is updated for Minecraft 1.5.2. The Shopkeepers plugin does not work with this build, so the stores have no villagers until the plugin updates.

Server Updates

I changed the fences in V3LD1N to cobblestone: this looks better with the theme of the city, and gives slightly better framerates than fences.
The store in the Factions world is now open, and has replaced the Player Store. It now works like the other stores, where you buy and sell items for emeralds.
Also, the V3LD1N Store now uses the Shopkeepers plugin instead of normal villagers. This will allow us to easily edit trades, remove villagers, add villagers, and the trades are actually infinite instead of having 2,000,000,000 uses, meaning the useless "extended piston" trade isn't needed anymore.

Minecraft 1.5.2 Pre-release

I updated the server to 1.5.2, which will be released on Thursday.
Edit: The server is using 1.5.1 again, but it will be updated when 1.5.2 is released.

Creative Plots World, New Permissions

We added a new PlotMe world on the server yesterday. This is to prevent anything built in the creative world getting destroyed by new players, and so we can have the server un-whitelisted without major griefing problems.

The creative world is now limited to Trusted Veldians and higher. Veldians can still visit it, but they cannot place or destroy. If you are a Veldian and would like to build, try the plot world at /warp Plots.

We also switched from GroupManager to PermissionsEx permissions plugin. This will probably not have any effect on gameplay, but if you are a VIP or Admin, it may need some testing to make sure that all command permissions are working. Read /info Updates for detailed permission changes.

Light Bugs Fixed, Server Updates

I found out what was causing some chunks to appear dark on the V3LD1N walls, and did a small change to fix it. Also, the dark spots that commonly appear in Extreme Hills should not appear in new chunks.

Other news: The Player Store was moved to the Factions world, due to it not having a store. It is now open for anyone to use. Read the Updates section of /info for detailed changes.

New Stores

I added the improved store to V3LD1N. It is based on an old V3LD1N building that was not in the city, and we completed it. The new store features new trades, improved prices, and bigger floors. For balance, the price of emeralds has been changed back to V40000 and V320000.

The second store: the Player Store. This store uses the old store building, but with a new interior. Here, players can make their own villagers with custom trades, and other players can buy their items for emeralds.

New Train Station and Rail Improvements

I improved V3LD1N's rail system by adding a new train station, adding new rails to existing ones, and changing all of the up-hills to use redstone. Use /info Updates to view detailed updates on the server.

Other news: Emeralds can now be sold to the store, for slightly less Velds than to buy one. They also cost less Velds to buy now, to help balance the overpriced trades.

New PvP world

New Warp Room, new PvP world coming soon

I made a new warp room in V3LD1N. It is bigger than the old one, which will allow us to add more warps to the warp room.

Responding to suggestions, Ratchet_Miles wanted to add a Factions PvP world (this will only affect the new world, you will still be able to play no-PvP and normal-PvP survival). This will probably be done in 1-2 days from the time this was posted.

New Mob Arena changes:

• Increased V200000 reward to V250000
• Increased iron ingot reward from 64 to 256
• Increased gold ingot reward from 64 to 256
• Increased diamond reward from 64 to 128
• Increased emerald reward from 64 to 96
• Demolitions class now gets 512 TNT instead of 256, and a 256 TNT upgrade at wave 26, 51, and 80
• Wizard class now gets 64 Potions of Healing instead of 16
• Added 4 quartz reward every six waves
• The special waves no longer spawn Baby Zombies, Slimes, or Magma Cubes
• Bosses now have names
• Wave number is now shown as the experience level

We changed/added some more things on the server:

• New Guide Villagers in the hotel
• Fixed not being able to place signs on the Bulletin Board in the Town Hall
• New player welcome message now says "Welcome [name] to V3LD1N!"
• Removed "No PvP without reason" rule because PvP is disabled now

Minecraft 1.5.1

The server is updated to 1.5.1. Paintings can be placed, and vertical-facing dispensers are fully supported now.

Also, we fixed the Admin training world, now only the trainee can place and destroy blocks. Spectators can now use all of the normal Essentials commands, except /sell.

Mob Arena changes

Admin Training and FAQ world, Minecraft 1.5.1, permission changes

We added a new world to the server today, where users can read answers to frequently asked questions, and where VIPs can take a test to be promoted to Admin.Other changes:Added Admin in Training permission group (can use VIP commands and /ban, /kick, /give, and /vanish)
Removed VIP in Time Travel world
VIPs can now use /gamemode and /speed in the creative world

Also, the server is compatible with Minecraft 1.5.1, if you are using the pre-release.

Server Downtime

The server has been down for a few hours due to technical problems (chunk errors crashing the server), but the problem is fixed now and the server should be back up soon.

Other news: Minecraft 1.5 will be released tomorrow, but the server will not update until Bukkit (and important plugins) have been updated. If you would still like to play on the server, keep a copy of 1.4.7 until Bukkit is updated.

Time Travel world is now open

We added a PvP world called "Time Travel". It takes place in V3LD1N in the year 2112, in a post-apocalyptic theme. To get here, type /warp TimeTravel or /warp PvP.

Server Updates: No whitelist, premium only

Joining the server: V3LD1N no longer allows cracked users, due to griefing attempts. The server is now non-whitelisted.Edit (3/8/13): The server is now cracked and non-whitelisted again.

About Minecraft 1.5: The server will be updated to 1.5 when Bukkit updates. This means that if Bukkit updates to the 1.5 pre-release, the server will too. If Bukkit updates after the 1.5 release, the server will stay on 1.4.7 until it gets updated.

Small Server Updates

Promotion and protection

I (Ratchet_Miles) have made a preview of the server and set up a Minestatus banner for users to refer to if/when the server goes down.

In other news, CCosenza has managed and protected the main city to a state where users can build in hotels that are given to them, but can't build or destroy blocks in the city. VIP users and Owners are the only users allowed to edit the city. Due to this recent attachment, I may consider turning off whitelisting again.

Creative world, whitelist

The server is whitelisted again, due to random people advertising on a popular YouTube video. Because of this, griefers were joining the server. The whitelist will be removed when Ratchet_Miles adds the new login system.

V3LD1N now has a Superflat Creative world, where users are free to build. Use "/warp creative" to get there, and read the rules before building.

Mob Arena
